Ambitious in God

Last year when visiting Kitwe on the way to Sachibondu I had the privilege of preaching here......

Building project 1

It was a little bit fuller at the time! But little did I realise the leap of faith about to be undertaken by the Kitwe Newfrontiers church as they embarked on their new building project.........This year we had opportunity to see the beginning of the vision unfolded before our eyes

Building project 2

But this is no ordinary church building, its the first of a kind designed by architects from the Newfrontiers church in Zimbabwe and promoted by Scott Marques, one of the apostolic leaders within Newfrontiers in Southern Africa. It has been specifically designed with thatched roofing in order to maintain some semblance of coolness during the meetings, whilst being "open-ended" (in many directions!) to provide additional seating for an expanding congregation whilst still providing a certain amount of shade, as Joseph Mwila, leader of the Kitwe Newfrontiers Church explained to me below....

Building project 3

What Joseph didn't know at the time he procured the plans was that it had never been build before! Up until that time it had only been an architect's plan, so it took a man of courage and vision backed up by a loyal supportive church and friends from overseas to take the plan and turn it into reality. With next to nothing available to them the church has pioneered to the stage pictured below, overcoming many technical issues with the plans. However, as you can see, the vision is not yet complete and the faith challenge is extreme as the rains approach, and yet for just £4,000 it can be completed if others will just join with them in their ambitious project...may be you can be part of the answer

Wonderful news, Neil, and such a bold step for Kitwe. We have fond memories of that whole area, and it holds vital and strategic importance for what God is doing both in Zambia, but also in the vast DRC next door. Tell us how we can help. How much of that puny £4,000 is still outstanding? Come on COTR - it's only the price of a small second-hand car!!
